Copenhagen has brought out the closet mathematicians, all eager to show that the summit is apparently for the mathematically
challenged. The best of the lot is
this plot. You will note that it avoids the dubious practice found on
every s
ingle IPCC plot, that of starting the CO2 scale from some non-zero point. (Wait, on
that one they subtract off the non-zero part to hide it better!) Ponder with joy, because it displays so eloquently what is so completely fallacious about Copenhagen.
Of course, there have been many attempts in the past 2 weeks to make the point so plain that even a global activist can understand it. There's
this effort in the Daily Express, which tries to overwhelm with data (known in debate circles as the umbrella defence.) Then there is
this attempt to turn graphs into YouTube videos, which has a nice opening but loses it by the end. And of course, we've got the journalist
talking heads too, but that's so 20th century. The 21st century evidently, is
polar bears with megaphones. Baby seals next.
Like I said, I really like the post-office graph. If I had an office door, it would be on it.
