It's funny how a sense of humor returns when one doesn't feel personally threatened. Perhaps this is why Al Gore has no sense of humor. (Or for that matter, Barbara Streisand's angry outburst at audience members who did have a sense of humor.)
So as I have come to realize that right at this very instant, global warming isn't going to drown my condo on the beach or ruin my ski holiday, I can relax and start to see humor in the whole thing. I'm not the only one to find this enjoyable. Senator Inhofe is evidently ready to pull up a lawn chair and watch the parade, here's the money quote:
"I see a sense of desperation that I haven't seen before, Inhofe told me by phone Thursday, "and frankly I'm enjoying it." Read the whole thing. The self-parody is just too much, as they strain for terminology from the sawdust trail to explain how important global warming is, and how skepticism is bad, bad, bad, some sort of self-hypnosis. And I remember when "Skeptic" was a compliment, that one was a liberated Enlightenment man! No longer, the world is now divided between the believers and the apostate.
Signs of the great meltdown, the end of global warming as we know it.
And time to find some other catastrophe that will give us one world government...Bird flu anyone?
